Setup: Things you have to know or find out yourself. We cannot support you because every company has their own settings, admin & passwords, and knowledge of their equipment. 1-What
kind of internet you are using where the DVR is it going to be set up?
(Your
Internet Comp.) PART A SETTING THE IP TO THE DVR WITH A ROUTER BEING PRESENT {DVR Manual Pages: 34-43} 1- Connect and RJ-45 cable / CAT 5 (Ethernet), Not provided. So you have to purchase one depending on the distance that you are setting up the unit to your modem or router. (It is not a wireless setup, and nope it is not setup for wireless) 2- On the screen(DVR) left click the icon for the settings (it has the gears icon) and a passwprd screen will prompt. Press enter and will be on the Main Menu. Scroll down to where you'll see "EXTERNAL DEVICE", then left click where it says "TCP/IP SETUP" , and then left click where it says "IP SETUP" 3- Left click where the word says "MANUAL" to "AUTOMATIC'' 4- Below left click the "IP DETECT" button and give it few seconds to about 2 minutes to find the local IP from the router or modem/router. After it is done, please copy down the "IP ADDRESS'' & "IP PORT" because will need it later. 5- Left click "ESC" , then "ESC", then "ESC" and then press "EXIT" And your settings will be saved and done PART B CONFIGURATING YOUR ROUTER (First, if you don't know if you are behind a router, call your internet provider and give them your modem model number. Sometimes modem have build-in in router. If you are, ask them to guide you into where to "OPEN & CLOSE PORTS" or atleast how to get to your "ROUTER SETTINGS" {Copy down the address to log in and passwords to get in} If they help you to open those ports for you, ask them which internet browser to do it from, or if they control it from their station, then give them the "IP PORT" number that I told you to write down in section PART A (4). If they tell you that all ports are open and only they have closed such and such (write them down incase you have to re-route) Here are the steps 1- Open an internet browser, use the one that it is compatible with the router. Or anyone. 2- In the address bar, where you type in "www" instead of "www" type in the address of your router. Sample for Linksys it is "192.168.1.1" for other name brands they have their own. So please read your modem/router / router's manual for it. Or simply go to their website or forums to find out.
3- After putting the address, press enter on your keyboard and a small pop-up screen will come out asking you the user/name/ID and password. To find out please read your modem/router / router's manual for it or ask who installed for you. Or simply go to their website or forums to find out. (Don't ask us what it is because we don't know it.)
4- Search where the router has and "OPENING and CLOSING PORTS or PORT or Applications & Gaming" press to go to it. RED circle some routers or firmwares don't have this section where you can name it, so don't worry. But if it do just name it "DVR". BLUE circle you see to little boxes that you have to pu the ports. Look into the sheet of PART A (4) and in the "Start" put the port number and for "End" or "Close" put the same port number. In the "Protocol have them checked. In some models they are not displayed or just one of the two is there. It is fine. Here in the same IP that you have in PART A (4) you want to type it in. Enable it as you can see in the yellow circle. Then save it or press ok.
5-after this proccess you should be able to see your router internally with your local IP. Which it is your local IP. The IP that you wrote down in section PART A (4) Use that IP and Port numbers. 6-Now to see it from somewhere outside. Use the your "External IP that your internet provider gave you" ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PART C VIEWING REMOTELY (Using the software to see the cameras) {DVR Manual Pages: 47-56} (DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE DDNS SETUP AT THIS MOMENT)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PART D Setting up with DDNS (Using your internet explorer to see the cameras, Recommended for those that have "Dynamic IP" {DVR Manual Pages: 57-63}
